Event's DetailsResearch shows that increased self compassion decreases stress, increases resiliency and improves emotional and psychological well being. Join Shaelene, a licensed counselor and RYT, in a two hour workshop that is focused on increasing self-love and acceptance through the practice of self-compassion. Shaelene will lead students through a gentle yoga practice, followed by teaching on self compassion meditation techniques, and the class will end with a self compassion meditation. There is no experience in yoga or meditation necessary and all are welcome.
Shaelene Lauriano (newly Shaelene Kite) started practicing yoga in 2012. Being someone who struggled with silence at the time, she loved the flow of the sequence, the upbeat music and all of the sweat! She became a registered yoga teacher in 2014. During this time, Shaelene also began working as a licensed professional counselor, treating clients that struggle with PTSD, severe depression and anxiety. In her professional training, she began to develop a meditation practice as she was learning how much it would help her clients. As someone who could never imagine having regular "quiet time", she was shocked to find that meditation and mindfulness were among the top tools that she would teach to clients and also rely on for her own peace of mind. Shaelene's passion is to find ways in which yoga, meditation and counseling are joined together to help everyone find full body healing.
